At Grow Safety Training, our mission has always been clear: equip people with the knowledge and confidence to save lives in emergencies. Today, we’re excited to announce a partnership that takes our commitment to life-saving first aid to the next level. We have proudly joined forces with BraOffDefibOn, an initiative dedicated to breaking down a major—and often overlooked—barrier in CPR response for women.
Addressing a Life-Saving Inequality
Shockingly, women are up to 27% less likely to receive CPR from bystanders compared to men. This statistic reflects a harsh reality: hesitation and discomfort surrounding the removal of a woman’s bra to provide proper chest compressions and defibrillation. Social stigma, a lack of understanding, and fears of impropriety often cause a critical delay or reluctance to act.
But in a cardiac arrest situation, every second counts. Over 30,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals each year where resuscitation is attempted, yet fewer than 1 in 10 people survive. The stakes are high, and effective, immediate CPR can dramatically increase survival chances. That’s why addressing this barrier isn’t just important—it’s life-saving.
Why We Stand with BraOffDefibOn
Our partnership with BraOffDefibOn aims to challenge these outdated fears and empower first aiders to act swiftly and effectively, regardless of the person’s gender. Proper CPR technique often requires that a bra be removed to ensure optimal pad placement for defibrillation. We believe it is essential to train all first aid responders to take this necessary step confidently, without hesitation, and with full understanding of its critical importance.
By joining forces with BraOffDefibOn, we’re committed to:
Raising awareness of the gender disparity in receiving CPR and why it exists.
Providing robust training to ensure first aiders know that removing the bra in a cardiac emergency can save lives.
Empowering bystanders to act confidently and equally, giving everyone the best chance at survival.
Training for Confidence and Equality
First aid isn’t just about the technical skills—it’s about having the confidence to act. By supporting BraOffDefibOn, we’re reinforcing the message that in an emergency, the person’s survival must always come first. We are here to educate and instill the courage and knowledge needed to do just that.
We believe that everyone deserves equal access to life-saving care, and we are passionate about driving this change. Together with BraOffDefibOn, we’re working to ensure that gender doesn’t stand in the way of receiving CPR.
Join us in breaking down barriers and making a difference. Together, we can save more lives.
